Thursday 24th of August 2017 was a memorable day to all of us, the Ebunlobinrin family. The d day for the Launch of YEIIS (Youth Entrepreneurship Innovative Investment Scheme). YEIIS: Empowerment and Employment Package prepared to eradicate joblessness in the South-Western part of Nigeria, was unveiled by Ebunlobinrin Foundation, Ogun State Government and other stakeholders who belief in the foundation’s mission to end poverty in Nigeria.
The colourful event was held at June 12 Cultural Center, Kuto Abeokuta where close to a thousand beneficiaries drawn from across the 56 Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas of Ogun State were sensitized and prepared to be empowered.
While delivering her speech, Queen Temitope Grace OKOYA, Founder and the current President of the Foundation enjoin eminent Nigerians to imbibe the culture of giving to the needy, She emphasized on the need for us all to see that non is living in abject poverty,
“My biggest challenge as a child growing up in Nigeria was the inadequacy of available social and government support system. However, I was always telling God I would do something fundamental to help the needy and less privileged as soon as I achieve a level of comfort and leadership in the society”.
“Well meaning individuals and corporations must understand that there is immense power in helping the needy and less privileged. A society which fails to cater for the poor will have the rich living in perpetual fear and imprisonment in the middle of their sprawling mansions. More food is being wasted than what is being consumed; many old clothes ending up in garbage could better serve millions of poor people in our society. We need to think, take responsible action and ensure nobody goes to sleep hungry or drops out of school due to inability to pay fees. That is the only way to build a society where our children will not live in perpetual fear of their neighbors and strangers”.
The Foundation since 2012 has been packaging and successfully implementing Women, Youth and Girl Child empowerment programmes among which are GWES (Grassroot Women Empowerment Scheme), initiated by Queen Temitope Grace Okoya in 2012 to facilitate Free of Interest/No Collateral Requirement Loan facilities to Small Scale Business Women, this has assisted over 3000 women in Ogun State alone since 2012, The scheme was also Launched in Lagos state early this year in line with the promise of the foundation to cover all the South-West States of Nigeria with this financial support package. The scheme is witnessing rushing of beneficiaries day by day in this two states.
Another commendable Programme of Ebunlobinrin Foundation is the Girl Child Scholarship Scheme Tagged Ebunlobinrin GCSS, this scheme offers full scholarship awards to less privileged girl child in Nigeria, irrespective of her tribe, the Scheme was introduced by Queen Temitope Grace OKOYA in 2014 and has since then awarded full scholarship to over 100 beneficiaries in Nigeria.
Other Empowerment Packages from Ebunlobinrin Foundation are, African Child Intellectual Development and Empowerment Outreach, Ebunlobinrin Medical Outreach to mention but few.
